Lonestar Taps and Caps

Not all craft beer is available in bottles on a shelf, and even those that are can be extremely hard to find. There is nothing like a friendly neighborhood growler-fill spot to let you take great craft beer home. Until recently if your neighborhood happened to be north of the Dallas/Addison area you were out of luck. Fortunately, Lonestar Taps and Caps is located right off 121 at Josey Ln, and is easy to get to from almost any direction.

Lonestar Taps and Caps provides not just a convenient location, but also an excellent selection of constantly rotating taps to choose from. They have 50 taps, and strive to keep them all delivering quality craft beer. Based on my visit, I can say that they are bringing in unique beers that you would be hard pressed to find together anywhere else (seriously, where are you going to find Christmas BOMB! in May?). If you want to see for yourself, check out their full selection here http://www.tapsandcaps.com/taps/ along with current keg levels. Is the beer you want running low? Better head on over and get it while it lasts.

This is some awesome technology that is also on display at the store. All the beers are listed with current levels and pricing on four large monitors.
Lonestar_Crowler-e1430962771172Lonestar doesn’t cut corners on the fills either. With a rinse, clean and CO2 purge they do their best to make sure the beer you take home tastes great and has some staying power. Their crowlers offer a great option as well.

The 32 oz crowler is the can equivalent of a growler. Filled with your favorite beer, this massive can is topped and sealed for freshness. Speaking from experience, it is great to hold in your hand 32 oz of beer greatness. While I couldn’t guarantee the shelf life, I think this is a good option for a beer you want to keep around for a while.

UPDATE: The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has determined that canning beer can only be done by beer manufacturers and has asked that crowlers no longer be used. Bummer.

Fortunately, for those near The Colony, Frisco, Lewisvile, North Plano and surrounding areas, Lonestar Taps and Caps created a premier craft beer destination close to home. I’d recommend paying them a visit.
